Mask Care, Materials, and Storage

Sans Souci masks are made of paper mache, painted with acrylics, and finished with a variety of decorations. They are strong and lightweight, generally weighing less than a pound. Larger masks are padded on the inside with felt and cotton batting, and have adjustable Velcro straps. They are all marked with the artist's name and the studio name on the inside.

Sans Souci masks are generally strong enough to resist damage when they are dropped or banged into things, but they are not unbreakable. Reasonable care should be used while handling them.

Sans Souci masks are water resistant and should withstand a gentle wash with a damp sponge. However, they are not designed to be displayed outdoors or immersed in water.

Small chips, cracks, loosened hair, etc. are best repaired with a white tacky craft glue such as Aleene's, Elmer's Craft Glue, or Activa's Mighty Tacky. Wood glue or regular Elmer's will also work, but will be a little more difficult to use. Other kinds of glue are not recommended, as the solvents in them may remove paint.

If you have any questions or concerns about the care of your mask, drop us a note or give us a call! We want you and your mask to have a long and happy acquaintance with each other.
